Collaborative law involves an agreement to enter into a series of face-to-face negotiations between you and the other party in order to resolve your matter. The lawyers attend these negotiations and help facilitate a resolution. If the collaborative process fails to result in a negotiated agreement and it is necessary to commence court proceedings to resolve the matter, then both sets of lawyers cease to act for the parties and you both appoint new lawyers to litigate the matter before the Court.

Collaborative law gives you the ability to be in control of the negotiation process and gives the parties a significant opportunity to settle a matter in a non-adversarial manner. It can be potentially more time-efficient than commencing court proceedings and the lawyers involved have a strong incentive to help facilitate a resolution, which is mutually acceptable to the parties.

If you are interested in pursuing the Collaborative Law process in order to resolve your matter, please contact us for further information.
